2009: Think Spring
As spring approaches it is time to prepare to protect your gardens and shrubs from the irreparable harm caused by deer. Protect your plants by starting to spray deer and rabbit repellent early. The process of spraying should continue through the fall. By using repellent before deer damage your gardens and shrubs it is much easier to deter them because they have not yet dined in your yard.
Spraying should be repeated every 60 to 90 days as needed to protect new growth. Continued spraying of new growth is particularly important, as new growth is the deer’s most favorite meal.
Repellex products are different from competitive ones because we use a higher percentage of active ingredients and more active ingredients to provide the best results. Repellex Original Deer & Rabbit Repellent has been classified by the EPA as being deemed “minimal risk pesticide” and is exempt from Federal registration under FIFRA, Section 25(b). This repellent is multi-faceted in that two senses and affected – taste and smell intimidating to the deer. This double sensory affect provides a wider temperature range for effectiveness.
It is important to allow the repellent to dry on the plants before watering or a rain fall. Spraying should be done on a non-windy day when the temperature is at least 40 degrees and less than 90 degrees. See the Rutgers study on the website for comparative effectiveness against competitive products.
